What better way to celebrate the Grand Opening of the all-new Volvo Cars Walnut Creek than with the unveiling of the highly anticipated, all-new, all-electric Volvo EX30. Volvo’s newest compact SUV was revealed to the world in Milan, Italy last month.
The EX30, along with the full-sized EX90, represent Volvo’s next generation of fully electric vehicles. It is Volvo’s “smallest ever SUV” with a compact design that still boasts the safety and luxury for which Volvo is renowned.
The EX30 SUV remains faithful to Volvo’s famous Scandinavian design values just in a smaller package. Its long wheelbase, large wheels, and equal overhangs create an exterior that’s both balanced and refined. The handsome, distinctly electric face, closed shield, and choice of five, bold exterior color will turn heads on city streets. The EX30’s four, natural interior colors provide a calm, comforting driving experience.
Speaking of driving experience, the all-electric EX30 provides two options depending on your driving needs and style. The Single Motor Extended Range variant with an NMC extended-range battery is designed with maximum range in mind, providing an estimated range of 275 miles between charges. To make your commute a little spicier, the Twin Motor Performance variant pairs the NMC battery with an additional second e-motor. This all-wheel drive variant of the EX30 provides 422 hp and takes you from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds making it Volvo’s fastest-accelerating car ever!
Beginning at conception, the fully electric EX30 was designed with its carbon footprint in mind. The EX30 has the smallest carbon footprint of any Volvo car to date and is an important step forward for Volvo’s sustainability goals. The entire production lifecycle of the EX30 benefits from smart, efficient choices. The innovative use of materials both exterior and interior also help to lower the EX30’s total carbon footprint over 124,274 miles (200,000 kms) of driving to below 30 tons.
The EX30 remains true to Volvo’s legacy of safety, innovating and exceeding previous lofty goals. Standard appointments like state-of-the-art restraint technology, as well as Volvo’s famous structural design create a vehicle that exceeds even Volvo’s ambitious in-house safety requirements. The EX30 was built to provide drivers and passengers with the safest possible experience in real-world scenarios.
Volvo believes driving should be as fun and comfortable as it is safe. That’s why the EX30 SUV features a cutting-edge, contextual single-screen UX, with Google built-in and running Volvo’s latest infotainment system. The EX30 is also the first Volvo to include a new generation of the Park Pilot Assist feature.
There’s one other place the EX30 is small: Price. Starting at just $34,950 MSRP in the U.S., the EX30 SUV is an all-electric, luxury Volvo that is priced competitively with gasoline-powered cars.
“The fully electric EX30 might be our smallest ever SUV, but it’s a big deal for our customers and a big deal for us as a company,” said Jim Rowan, our chief executive. “We like to say the EX30 is small yet mighty, because it delivers on everything you’d want from a Volvo but in a smaller package. Like any Volvo, it’s an outstanding product which is safe and designed around people and their needs.”
Volvo Cars Walnut Creek is taking pre-orders on the all-electric EX30 SUV now. We can’t wait for it to join our line-up of electric and hybrid Volvos like the C40, XC60 Recharge, and S60 Recharge.
